While the experts agree that exercise will help get our joints moving, they also say that a healthy diet and a healthy weight will benefit them too.
Naturopath Miriam Elkan explains that all tissues, including those of our joints, wear out unless the body is able to repair them regularly. A good diet provides the ‘building blocks’ with which we need to repair the joints and keep them strong and healthy.
She adds: “A healthy diet should lead to a healthy weight. Excess weight puts significant strain on the
joints, while being underweight suggests that our body
is not getting all the nutrients it needs.”
